Celebrity chef demos, the Scottish Oyster Shucking Championships, live music, extreme pond dipping, a tempting artisan market, packed programme of children’s entertainment and an absolutely enormous oyster bar stocked with sought after native oysters.

Stranraer Oyster Festival returns this September, from 11th to 13th September, just a short distance from the famous Loch Ryan native oyster bed that inspired the community-run event.

The festival marks the opening of the native oyster season and attracts thousands of people to the scenic waterfront of Stranraer each year to sample oysters from the last wild, native oyster fishery in Scotland.

Loch Ryan’s famous oysters are the focus of the festivities, but you don’t need to love seafood to enjoy the event. This festival has been designed to celebrate the people, place and produce of Galloway, and its growing status as one of the biggest and most entertaining food festivals in Scotland is well deserved!
