Join us for a Historical Guided Walk: Natural History of Peebles

Explore the rich and varied natural history of Peebles on this engaging 90-minute guided walk through the town and surrounding landscape. Discover how the local environment has shaped life here over centuries—from the flowing River Tweed to the wooded hillsides and diverse wildlife that call this area home.

Along the way, we’ll share fascinating stories and show historical photographs that reveal how people have interacted with nature in Peebles over time. Learn about ancient woodlands, native plants, seasonal changes, and how the natural world influenced everything from farming to folklore.

This relaxed walk is perfect for anyone curious about the beauty and biodiversity of Peebles, past and present. You’ll leave with a new appreciation for the landscapes we often take for granted.

The walk lasts around 90 minutes. We recommend wearing sturdy shoes and dressing appropriately for the weather, as we’ll be outdoors and may encounter uneven paths.

No Booking required, meet outside in the quadrangle at 14:00. A suggested donation of £5 per person supports Peebles Library, Museum & Gallery.

Come along and connect with the natural world while uncovering the stories rooted in the very soil, water, and air of Peebles. Everyone is welcome—nature lovers and curious minds alike!
