Living History at Caerlaverock Castle

This Easter Holiday get ready for history to spring to life across our sites as our performers head out to a site near you! Characters from our past are ready to tell tales from their past as you walk around some of our most iconic sites.

Discover stories from some of Scotland’s most turbulent times, learn how we lived in the past, and what may have taken place at our sites. Our living history characters will even be happy to pose for photos with you and your family, although you will need to explain what a camera and a ‘selfie’ is first – they might be a tad confused by the technology!

Caerlaverock Castle will play host to an array of characters from Mondays to Wednesdays throughout the holidays.

On Wednesdays learn the skill of arrow-making from a fletcher. They’ll also show you have arrows were removed during medieval surgery with an ingenious device – luckily there’ll be no gore involved!
