A newly curated exhibition which brings together the work of four contemporary artists: Nicky Sanderson, Ann Louise Kieran, Sheila MacNeil, and Mary T. Johnson. Based in Edinburgh, the Scottish Borders and Glasgow, the artists first connected during the Scottish Society of Artists’ 2023 mentoring programme. Their year-long collaboration revealed shared themes in their practices: a love of printmaking and a deep engagement with place, ecology and personal/collective memory.

Through etching, screen printing, monotype and mixed media, Tracings explores how land and coast shape our understanding of self and the world around us. The exhibition features new work that reflects on environmental concerns, memory, loss and belonging… through the lens of the natural world.

The show invites viewers to experience the work through process and materiality, intertwined with conceptual ideas. Together, these four artists present an important conversation on how our surroundings inform who we are from a particularly female perspective.

Tracings is a powerful testament to land and coast that speak to us, inside and out. Don’t miss this vibrant and thought-provoking exhibition.
