GATHERING OF THE CLANS

The signature event of Annan The History Town's Summer Festival is the ‘Gathering of the Clans’. This is the first time that such an event has been held locally and the History Town Group are looking to attract visitors from near and far. As event organiser Graeme MacGregor explained, “Already we know of people travelling from America and South Africa for the event. With eight clan chiefs attending and a colourful parade it should be a spectacular event.”
Unique to the event will be the Inauguration of a Clan Chief, something that occurs every hundred years or so.
Appearing at the event will be Clanadonia, the well known Scottish tribal drum and pipe band.
Other attractions include pipe bands, mini–Highland Games, Highland and Scottish Country Dancing, Teviotdale Steel Bonnets, Time Bandits as well as over thirty arts, crafts and food stalls.stalls.
The event takes place at The Everholm sports ground, Annan on Saturday 24th. August. A limited number of early bird tickets are now available online at www.annanthehistorytown.org, priced at only £5 per adult + £1 booking fee) with accompanied children free.
