Festival Evensong

The closing event of Borders Music Festival 2026 – a Festival Evensong sung by the Borders Chamber Choir conducted by our own Robert Marshall and accompanied by the legendary David Goodenough on the organ. A fitting and beautiful conclusion to ten days of exceptional music in the Scottish Borders. All are welcome. The service includes music by Charles Wood (1866–1926): the double choir anthem Hail, Gladdening Light and the introit Expectans Expectavi; Kenneth Leighton’s world-famous set of Responses; and John Ireland’s celebrated setting in F. Kenneth Leighton (1929–1988) was a long-time resident of Gattonside in the Scottish Borders.
