BVAC Classic – Festival of Motoring

6th June 2021

Every effort has been made to verify the accuracy of the event information but we recommend contacting the event organisers before attending.

The BVAC Classic – Festival of motoring will take place at Thirlestane Castle in Lauder on Sunday 7th June. The 2020 event is celebrating the golden decade of the Seventies with cars from that era among the 1,400 other vehicles on display that span the decades.

The modern era of the car began in the Seventies and many of the cars that we drive today owe a huge amount to the decade. Vehicles became safer, smaller and more fuel efficient, airbags were introduced and the hatchback was born.

This year's displays will include cars that were launched in the Seventies such as the Range Rover, Triumph Stag, Ford Fiesta and VW Golf, and there will also be iconic cars from some of our favourite TV shows and movies of the decade such as Starsky and Hutch, The Professionals, James Bond and Smokey and the Bandit. The 2020 BVAC Classic will be a wonderful trip down memory lane with a feast of cool Seventies classics on display and to really set the scene and bring the seventies vibe to life, event organisers are encouraging as many car owners and visitors to dress up in Seventies style clothing on the day as possible.

It’s a fabulous family day out with further entertainment, live music and a shopping and food village.

The event also supports Sporting Bears who will be raising money for their chosen charity. Sporting Bears Dream Rides take visitors on trip through the Borders countryside in the car of their dreams, simply for a donation to the chosen charity.

In partnership with Brewin Dolphin, The BVAC Classic at Thirlestane has been described by the Sunday Times as “The best classic car festival in Scotland” and this year’s event also promises to be “The Best of the Seventies” too.
