About The Great Tapestry of Scotland
The Great Tapestry of Scotland is Europe's longest Tapestry. Hand stitched by a team of 1,000 stitchers and comprising 160 panels, The Great Tapestry of Scotland tells the visual story of Scotland’s history, heritage and culture from its formation to present day. Located in a new purpose-built visitor centre in Galashiels, in the Scottish Borders an area which is rich history of textile-making, just 50 minutes from Edinburgh. Here everyone will find something to explore and interest them in this 5 star visitor attraction as it narrates shared stories of struggles and ambitions, successes and failures, and searches for meaning and belonging. The Tapestry is one of the most ambitious community projects ever undertaken in Scotland: an artwork for the nation by the nation.
