Walking Route

Ettrick Water Circular – South

Walking

Follow the banks of the Ettrick Water out to Philiphaugh Estate and visit the Cauld, fish-ladder and hydro-power system; return by the old mill lade.

The site of the Battle of Philiphaugh is interpreted through a series of interesting boards on the extension of this walk but the path can be very muddy. Selkirk’s Riverside is currently undergoing major flood protection works so you may be diverted away from your intended route at some points.
