This was once a pivotal munitions factory, the largest in the world during the First World War. Visit this museum and see how HM Factory Gretna armed British soldiers. Then learn about the role 12,000 brave women played in managing and mixing the dangerous ‘devil’s porridge’ paste which was a key ingredient to cordite, a propellant used in British bullets and shells.
