The jewel in the crown of South West Scotland is the UNESCO designated Biosphere itself, Scotland’s first, and a huge leap forward in sustainable and ethical co-existence with nature. The biosphere encompasses local communities and businesses that are dedicated to fostering eco-friendly practices. From locally sourced produce to artists working in harmony with the environment, it’s a place of abundant diversity and unique character. The result is a magical place, a living landscape which is so much more than ‘just scenery’.

Welcome to the Biosphere.

Where to Visit?

In spring, you must stop by the bluebell carpeted Wood of Cree. Glentrool is also a must, as it’s a great access point for the Galloway Forest Park. Don’t forget to add Gatehouse of Fleet to your itinerary either, as atop its lone hill there are panoramas that cannot be missed.
