Led by tutor Maija Nygren and aimed at early career practitioners and small to medium enterprises practicing in the creative industries, these immersive workshops will look at the work of Bernat and Margaret Klein, celebrating colour, texture, design & sustainability through creative activities.

During the workshop we will theoretically deconstruct couture tweeds, yarn and other textiles in depth, by exploring archive photography and physical pieces to seek the essence of Klein’s work whilst deepening our knowledge and understanding of the key processes used. We will identify patterns in Klein’s colour use, choice of yarn types and the composition of colour and textures on a fabric’s surface.

During the practical session, we will aim to reconstruct the colour patterns and textures found. In keeping with our own creative practices, we will create a blended colour chart using mixed materials, which will be tinted to the hues of your choice.

As a participant, you will have the opportunity to consider your own creative practice and discuss with other workshop participants in a friendly and encouraging networking environment.

Organised by Bernat Klein Foundation and supported by the William Grant Foundation.
