Every effort has been made to verify the accuracy of the event information but we recommend contacting the event organisers before attending.

Walk with Cuthbert the Shepherd is a new way marked walking route for the Scottish Borders.

It has its origins in, and is the legacy of, four supported walking events which were organised by Channelkirk and Lauder Church in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022. Starting at Channelkirk Church and finishing in Melrose this Walk reflects the journey made by the young Cuthbert while still living in the Lammermuir Hills, in Upper Lauderdale.Tradition has it that the present Channelkirk Church is sited on the spot where Cuthbert experienced a vision which led him to travel to the monastery at Old Melrose, thereby beginning his life of faith, culminating in his sainthood.

The Walk with Cuthbert the Shepherd traces the first part of the life journey of this remarkable man, which is then taken up and continued by the St. Cuthbert’s Way from Melrose to Lindisfarne.

On Saturday 31st August, walkers are being invited to take part in celebrating the establishment of this new and permanently way marked route by walking from Channelkirk Church to Melrose (finishing at Annay Road Rugby Pitches, where refreshments will be provided between 2pm- 5pm).
Those who do not want to walk the full 17miles can choose to start at Channelkirk Church and walk part of the way, or join along the route and finish in Melrose.

It is important to emphasis that this is not an organised event and participants must make their own travel arrangements.

All details of the walk are contained on the accompanying poster and important additional information can be found by using the QR code on the bottom right hand side.
