The KM Rally 2026

date_range 22nd May, 2026 - 25th May, 2026

Every effort has been made to verify the accuracy of the event information but we recommend contacting the event organisers before attending.

A recreational cycling weekend with a wide range of led bike rides held over three days. This event centers around the village of Penpont.

In nearby Keirmill we have Kirkpatrick Macmillan’s smiddy, the birthplace of the bicycle! As well as the final resting place of Kirkpatrick Macmillan, the 19th-century inventor of the bicycle, which is in the Old Keir Churchyard (or Keir Old Cemetery) near Thornhill in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. His grave is located in the family plot within this scenic, remote, historic graveyard. Both Penpont and Keir, will be central to all cycling, camping, catering, ceilidh and cake!

The area is surrounded by fantastic valleys and hills, and there are routes for all abilities. Each day offers a choice of routes from long to mid-range and shorter, easier, slower-paced rides. These rides should be suitable for people new to cycling or children cycling independently if they can manage a couple of hours riding and feel able to tackle some hills.

There is a packed programme, both in and out of the saddle. Alongside the cycling we have a variety of social events in the evenings.

The KM Rally coincides with Spring Fling and the Arts D&G festival. Why not join us this year?
