An Evening of Shooting Stars, Astrophotography & Stories of the Night Sky

Join us for a magical evening under the stars as the Perseids Meteor Shower lights up the skies above Beirhope.

Our friend and passionate astrophotographer Ford will kick off the night with an engaging talk and slideshow, sharing the wonders of the night sky—from meteors and constellations to planets and the art of capturing them. He’ll offer expert tips for snapping stunning night-sky shots on your phone or camera—so bring your gear and get ready to shoot!

If the skies clear, we’ll trek to our secret viewing point—a short walk up the hill—where we can settle in and marvel at shooting stars streaking overhead. You might even catch the aurora like we did last year! Here’s your chance to practice live astrophotography under pristine dark skies.

If the weather isn’t on our side, we’ll stay by the base camp and dive into hands-on astrophotography workshops. Learn camera settings for night shots, telescope setup basics, and sky-mapping—all guided by Ford. We’ll make the most of the night, no matter what the forecast brings.

What to Bring:
• A camping chair (limited seats available on the hill)
• A head torch
• Warm layers (it gets chilly!)
• A camera and or smartphone

Hot drinks—including teas, coffees, and hot chocolate—will be available for purchase at Beirhope to keep you cosy between shots.
