Step into a world where walking becomes drawing, and the landscape is reimagined through movement, memory, and mark-making.

‘Path of Desire’ is a captivating new exhibition by mixed media artist Muriel, based in the Scottish Borders. Inspired by her unique practice of “draw walking,” this body of work invites you to experience nature in a completely different way. Rather than capturing what is seen, Muriel records the rhythm of walking itself translating fleeting impressions, gestures, and encounters into expressive scrolls created in the moment.

Discover a brand new intriguing collection of painted and printed hangings, intricate scrolls, and richly textured textiles, all layered with striking decorative motifs. The exhibition also offers a rare glimpse into the artist’s creative process, with a reconstructed studio wall displaying everything from bark rubbings and sketchbook explorations to annotated drawings, photographs, and experimental fabric pieces.

From these initial walk-drawings emerge abstract forms, symbols, and patterns developed through print, paint, collage, and stitch. Textile works, some presented on vintage bobbins as a nod to the Borders’ textile heritage, bring together hand embroidery and machine-drawn lines in beautifully tactile compositions.

Large-scale digitally printed fabric panels combine photographic layers with poetic haiku inspired by precise locations along Muriel’s walking routes, adding another dimension to this immersive experience.

This is more than an exhibition it’s an invitation to slow down, look differently, and connect with the natural world through movement, texture, and imagination.

Come and experience this thoughtful and visually striking exhibition for yourself.
