Lyle & Scott 150, Alex Corbett
Commemorating the 150th anniversary of Lyle and Scott, this exhibition tells the story of how the company has evolved from its humble beginnings to become a world-famous premium clothing brand.

Founded in Hawick in 1874 by William Lyle and Walter Scott, with an initial loan of £800, it has successfully adapted to the changing lifestyle, cultural and fashion trends, due mainly to the hard work and dedication of the thousands of workers who have been employed by the company over the last 150 years.

Enjoy a nostalgic and perhaps emotional wander through the displays where you can share in the quality workmanship that has embraced the motto of Walter Scott ‘GOOD WORK MEANS MORE WORK’.

The exhibition contains memorabilia, images, documents and garments dating from the early 1900s to the present day and includes Ellan-ess underwear, Jockey, golf, Dior, Michael Kors and the 150 Tartan as well as football kits from the recent Kits for Clubs campaign.

Alex Corbett, Lyle & Scott Archivist, says ‘The Scottish Borders will always feel like home to Lyle & Scott. As such, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to exhibit 150 years of shared local history with Live Borders.’
