Two of Scotland’s most celebrated traditional musicians bring their sell-out “village hall” set of Highland tunes, Gaelic songs and stories to the Borders for the first time.

Although best known for their work with Mànran, the band they co-founded in 2010, Gary Innes and Ewen Henderson have shared a musical journey that’s as rich in friendship as it is in talent. Whether performing as a duo in Highland village halls or playing to international audiences in Kazakhstan and Shanghai, their music is steeped in the stories, landscapes, and laughter of their travels.

Gary, born in Spean Bridge, first picked up the accordion at the age of eight—and from that moment, music became his lifelong companion. His debut solo album arrived in 2005, and he’s since released a string of critically acclaimed recordings. In 2016, he stepped into the shoes of the legendary Dr Robbie Shepherd MBE as host of BBC Radio Scotland’s Take the Floor, later adding his own Sunday evening show, Your Requests with Gary Innes, where his warmth and wit shine through the airwaves.

Ewen, from nearby Fort William, grew up surrounded by the traditional music and Gaelic culture of the West Highlands. He began playing fiddle at five and quickly expanded his musical horizons, learning from masters like Aonghas Grant Snr. and drawing deeply from his family’s musical roots. Outside of Mànran, Ewen has toured the world with a host of acclaimed artists, including the iconic Battlefield Band and the genre-blending Afro-Celt Sound System. He is also a regular host of BBC Radio Scotland’s Piping Sounds and BBC Radio nan Gàidheal’s Crunluath programmes.

Together, Gary and Ewen bring not just exceptional musicianship, but a genuine camaraderie and love for their heritage that resonates in every note they play and every story they tell. Joining them on stage will be special guest, Assynt born piano player and Young Traditional Musician of the Year Finalist, Rory Matheson.
