Urdha Dhanurasana, Joy Parker
Two sisters, two artists, using different mediums and different starting points for their images, explore what landscape means to them and what it might mean to you.

Joy Parker depicts individuals in various yoga postures against a backdrop of landscapes drawn mostly from the Scottish Borders. She aims to convey feelings of embodiment in this landscape. Her medium is oil paint on board. She enjoys moving the paint around freely as it is slow to dry, a process which echoes the physicality and flow of her subject matter.

Lois Parker, based in Cheltenham, enjoys the immediacy of pastels, which encourage in her a sense of exuberance and playfulness. She says, “Colours leap directly from fingers to paper using pastel". These landscapes capture moments of delight in land, water and sky.

The two differing responses to landscape create a dialogue that enhances the experience of the viewer.

Also on show will be small sculptures made jointly by the sisters, Lois fusing the glass and Joy assembling them with found objects, concrete and mosaic
