Every effort has been made to verify the accuracy of the event information but we recommend contacting the event organisers before attending.

As part of our William Gillies- Modernism & Nation touring RSA exhibition, we invite you to join artist Chris Kent on this guided hike from Hawick Museum to explore landscapes and paint en plein air as Gillies himself enjoyed.

We’ll embark on a scenic one-hour walk, soaking in the beauty of our surroundings before settling in a picturesque spot to create art for two hours, guided by Chris’s expert tips and creative flair.

Whether you're an experienced artist or just looking to try something new, this event is perfect for all skill levels.

Bring your art supplies, comfortable walking shoes, and plenty of enthusiasm!

Spaces are limited, so reserve your spot now!
Families welcome.

We will be hiking for an hour with regular stops along the way, before stopping for 2 hours to immerse ourselves in the art making, and an hours walk back to the museum. All children are welcome, please be aware of the length of time walking.

Please bring your own materials, a sketchbook and your preferred dry materials, we will have spares to share.

Please wear comfortable, sensible walking shoes and be prepared for the weather.

You will receive an email a week before the hike with a detailed map of the walking route. If you want to check a map ahead of this, we set off from the Hawick Museum and towards the Hawick Riding Route, and will be walking in this area.
