About Temple Church

This parish consisted originally of three parishes; those of Clerkington, Moorfoot and Balantrodach. The church has a long history, even as far as there being legends about the Knights of Templar hiding French treasure to be hidden there. The Parish that is there today was formed after the Scottish reformation and it took its name from the preceptory chapel which had by then become the parish kirk. There are a few parking spots outside of the Church and across the street where the Temple Records are held.

In the following centuries Temple became a bustling agricultural village, but now the majority of the village commute to Edinburgh for work.
