About Penicuik House

Located 9 miles south of Edinburgh, Penicuik House is a preserved masterpiece of Palladian architecture, set in one of the finest designed landscapes in the country. The estate has been home to the Clerk family since 1654 and this special place is currently being transformed into a rural and cultural destination for visitors from far and wide to enjoy.
Penicuik House Café is open 7 days a week with snug indoor seating and outdoor tables served by a dedicated hatch for those with dogs or who prefer to explore the amazing interior of Penicuik House. The café serves speciality coffee, tea, home baking and lunches all prepared fresh in their kitchen. Penicuik House also host regular pop up dinners, barbecues and community events.
The stunning designed landscape is the perfect place for a family outing or a simple escape from the city. There are miles of tracks, paths and looped routes in the unspoilt countryside for you to explore. The mapped routes are easily tackled on foot or bike. Head off the beaten track and try one of their 5k or 10k trail circuits where you will be rewarded with unrivalled views of the Pentlands.
The Penicuik House Rangers also run everything from wilderness tours to children’s workshops. Come to hear their wealth of knowledge about the estate and the wildlife that lives here.
Penicuik House is surrounded by a 7,500 acre mixed use estate. The mixed use farm covers over 750 acres at the base of the Pentland Hills. The Aberdeen Angus cattle and grass-fed lamb are available to buy directly from their farm shop.
Entry and parking is completely free and open 7 days a week.
