The locally inspired design is a nod to Royal Navy Vice Admiral, Archibald McMurdo who once resided at Cargenholm House with his wife. His story stretches 10,000 miles across the globe as his career included two discovery expeditions aboard HMS Terror, one of which was to Antarctica with the famous Scottish explorer, Sir John Ross aboard HMS Erebus. We have captured McMurdo's adventure in the design throughout in a contemporary, playful way whilst respecting original period features throughout. Today you can have your own explorations from our doorstep, knowing you can rest your head in our calming relaxing guest rooms.

Relax in our guest rooms with their neutral colours, complete with a working desk, free WiFi, and TV. Upgrade your stay to a privilege room which in addition to our regular amenities includes bathrobes and slippers, and a Nespresso coffee machine.
