About Kippford Lodges

Kippford Lodges - the perfect get away! Our 2 spacious Norwegian designed luxury log cabins are located in a private landscaped development adjacent to Kippford Wildlife & Nature Reserve. The cabins are furnished and equipped to a high standard each sleeps 6.

Still dreaming... ? We are less than 2 hours drive from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Newcastle. A world away yet so close to home!

Bluebell Lodge (our pet-free lodge) has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a spacious open plan lounge with two sets of patio doors leading onto a large enclosed balcony ideal for alfresco dining. Relax on the balcony with a glass of wine and enjoy spectacular sunsets over the amazing Galloway Hills.

Laurel lodge (our pet friendly one) overlooks the tranquil lily pond. At night, sit on the balcony and enjoy the moonlit reflection on the water or marvel at the big dark sky with its myriad of twinkling stars, which, on a clear night never ceases to amaze. After a day out exploring, kick off your boots, lie back on the sofa and toast your feet in front of the wood burning stove. Now, feel totally relaxed.

A short walk from Kippford Lodges finds you at the attractive waterfront of the picturesque sailing village with its unique cockle beaches.
The area is designated for its outstanding natural beauty and abundant wildlife. Once here, you don't have to travel far just stay in the slow lane! Become active - get close to nature (watch out for red squirrels, deer, badgers, foxes, rabbits, red kites, owls, woodpeckers etc) or sit, relax on the balcony and listen to the birdsong. Explore a variety of walks from your doorstep ranging from coastal paths to cliff top walks, forest trails to designated nature trails. The Jubilee Path, a circular walk across National Trust land to Rockcliffe being a firm favourite for all (it can get crowded but plenty of alternative trails to avoid folk). Or, for a more strenuous activity jump on your bike and head into Dalbeattie forest with its world class 7Stanes Mountain bike trails and MTB skills development area. Guaranteed to test your stamina!

A short 5 minute drive finds you at a couple of our local beaches of Rockcliffe and Sandyhills bay where memories are created building sand castles and exploring rock pools. The area offers a stunning coastal drive through interesting sleepy villages, past historical abbeys (Sweetheart Abbey, Dundrennan Abbey) and castles (Threave Castle, Castle Maclennan) and close to various wildlife and nature reserves such as RSPB at Mersehead, Red Kite centre at Loch Ken and the WWT at Caerlaverock (not forgetting its impressive triangular castle!).

Local family attractions are generally ‘farm based,’ all within 30 minutes drive. These include making your own ice cream at Cream o Galloway (ice cream farm plus other activities); making and enjoying delicious chocolate at The Cocoa Bean; having fun getting mucky on slides then feeding animals at Mabie Farm Park; soft play and outdoor fun at Dalscone Farm, or outdoor play areas at Ernespie Farm.
