Earwig, Swallow Theatre
Marigold’s research into beetles is unparalleled but as a deaf woman in 1927, her work is ignored.
Following on from the success of Greyhounds and Clouds, Time & Again Theatre Company roar into the Twenties with their brand new show Earwig.
New writing combining the weird, wonderful world of entomology with Marigold’s fight to be heard amidst flappers, jazz, and an overbearing husband.
Alongside traditional spoken word, the show incorporates illustrated projections and captioning (in the style of 1920s silent movies) along with plenty of art deco flair!
This positive and empowering fictional drama is inspired by events of the period.
Earwig is written by Laura Crow, who is herself deaf and neurodivergent. Laura was also the writer and lead actor of Clouds, which was performed at The Swallow Theatre last summer.
The play comes to The Swallow Theatre direct from a full run at Assembly Front Room in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and was awarded an Edinburgh Fringe Recovery Grant in June 2021.
